Description
The pre-load (pre-tension) of the hydraulic valve lifters is very important for the proper functioning and lifespan of the camshaft and valve lifters. When overhauling a V8 engine, the pre-load can be changed by, for example, planing the cylinder heads and mounting a different camshaft. To adjust the pre-load of the valve lifters, shims are needed that are mounted under the rocker shafts. The thickness is very important here, we supply them in various thicknesses and this should be measured first, before ordering the correct thickness. We have shims in thicknesses of 0.75/1.00/1.25/1.5/1.75 and 2.0 mm.
Also very important is the location of a small hole in the shim; at the front of the cylinder head the rocker arm shaft gets oil. This hole in the shim should be at the top of the rocker arms.
Please indicate which thickness is required when ordering.
